Level 3 Certificate in Close Protection

This course covers the basic tasks, objectives, legal and social responsibilities of a Close Protection Officer.

Course Overview

The HABC Level 3 Certificate in Close Protection has been developed to meet the requirements of the Security Industry Authority (SIA). It is based on the relevant SIA Specifications for Learning and Qualifications and provides the learner with the necessary knowledge and understanding for those who wish to apply for an SIA licence and work as a Close Protection Officer. We can now deliver this course in Europe and The Arab States, please call for more details.

Course Content

  • Understand the legislation that is relevant to working in the close protection industry.
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of the Close Protection Operative.
  • Know the importance of threat assessment and risk management.
  • Know Surveillance techniques.
  • Understand venue security operations.
  • Know how to design and demonstrate operational planning.
  • Know the importance of interpersonal skills.
  • Know the importance of teamwork.
  • Know the importance of reconnaissance.
  • Know how to conduct close protection foot drills.
  • Know the importance of planning and selecting routes.
  • Know vehicle movement tactics and operations.
  • Know the search techniques and procedures for close protection operations.
  • Know how to apply conflict management techniques while providing close protection.

Entry Requirements
It is advised that learners have a valid up to date First Aid at Work Certificate and a minimum of Level 2 in literacy or numeracy or equivalent. This qualification is suitable for learners aged 18 and above

Geographical Coverage
The qualification is suitable for learners in England, Wales or Northern Ireland, however, we can also deliver this course abroad.

Qualification Structure
The qualification is made up of four mandatory units and is internally assessed through a portfolio of evidence.

Assessment: This qualification is assessed in two parts:
· Part one is a 60 question, 2 hour multiple-choice examination.
· Part two is assessed by a portfolio of evidence.
Duration: 140 Guided learning hours (GLH)
